RAEWYN PENMAN

Education Services Manager

"Achieving positive learning outcomes for the children is at the centre of all decisions at Kidsfirst. There is a great team of professional women and men here who are enthusiastic and committed to their work, and open to continuous improvement and innovation."

“At Kidsfirst everyone supports each other to strive for excellence, be strong advocates for children and to be the best that they can be in their field.”

An environment where everyone supports each other to strive for excellence – that’s what sets Kidsfirst apart as a place to work for Raewyn Penman, one of our Professional Leaders.

Raewyn came to her role as a Professional Leader with 25 years of experience in early childhood education.

Raewyn has worked as a teacher, manager, professional development facilitator and a lecturer at the Dunedin College of Education. And alongside the practical learnings, she’s completed a host of study over the years, including a Diploma in Teaching, a Bachelor of Education, an MBA and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education.

She first began working at Kidsfirst as Head Teacher at Rutland Street Kindergarten. Right from the beginning, she enjoyed working for an organisation focused on providing children with the best possible early childhood education.

“Achieving positive learning outcomes for the children is at the centre of all decisions at Kidsfirst. There is a great team of professional women and men here who are enthusiastic and committed to their work, and open to continuous improvement and innovation."

“At Kidsfirst everyone supports each other to strive for excellence, be strong advocates for children and to be the best that they can be in their field.”

She says the supportive management structure has enabled her to truly focus on her role.

“And provide advice, guidance, professional development and support to the teachers I work with. It also means that I have opportunities to be involved in robust discussions with other professionals who have extensive knowledge and experience. This has helped me to challenge and reflect on my ideas, share my knowledge with others, and together be innovative in our practice.”

And the high quality of education Kidsfirst provides to children is just one of many things that make her proud to be part of the organisation.

“It’s also fantastic to be part of a group that has a commitment to employing top teachers, and provides such a high level of support to parents and whanau.”
